The Opportunity:
We have been experiencing substantial growth over the past few years and are excited about growing our business even further. We are looking for an experienced, career focused, Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) to join our Design and Drafting team, working specifically in our Water Wastewater Treatment division.
The Job:
As a Certified Engineering Technologist, you will create a variety of municipal engineering designs, drawings, and other related technical information to support the work of DCL Siemens' various multi-disciplinary municipal engineering projects.
In accordance with the Project Brief, and as outlined by the Project Manager or Director, Water Waste/Water, our Certified Engineering Technologists will,
- Compile existing municipal and shallow utility record information;
- Using AutoCAD technology and software, prepare detailed design drawings for a variety of municipal engineering projects, such as:
- Process Piping and Pumping hydraulics design
- Sanitary Sewer Systems design/drafting
- Storm Sewer Systems design/drafting
- Water Treatment Systems design/drafting
- Coordinate design drawings from sub-consultant engineering firms;
- Prepare or assist in the preparation of project documentation such as Tender Contract Drawings, budgets, estimates, schedules and reports;
- Ensure all drawings and documents meet DCL Siemens Quality Control requirements as well as all applicable statutory and regulatory requirements;
- Participate in on-going project reviews to discuss project progress, obstacles and solutions;
- Meet project milestones on or before schedule completion dates;
- Assist in conducting field surveys and inspections as required;
- Actively contribute to the development and improvement of DCL Siemens design systems, processes, practices, and procedures.
The Candidate:
You have a minimum 5 to 10 years of experience as a C.E.T. working on progressively challenging municipal engineering projects and have developed a portfolio of work demonstrating relevant water and waste water projects. Your career has been established in municipal infrastructure, water treatment, wastewater treatment, and associated areas. You are a detail oriented, self-disciplined and composed professional who enjoys working on a number of different projects with varying priorities. Working as a design draftsperson in our Water/Wastewater Treatment area you will have the patience, drive and skill to be involved in all aspects of complex projects which can span up to three years from concept to completion.

Qualifications
Education
- Civil Engineering Diploma and/or C.E.T. or P.Tech. (Eng.) designation or equivalencies
Knowledge & Skills
- Excellent professional business writing skills;
- Strong verbal communicator; proven ability to foster and maintain productive, professional relationships;
- Proficient at reading blueprints and working drawings, and developing a project through the various feasibility, preliminary design, detail design and tendering phases.
- Proficient with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Microsoft Office
- Exposure to SewerCAD, WaterCAD and xpstorm and xpswmm software
- Thorough understanding of OH & S Standards
- Working knowledge of Alberta Environment Design Standards and Guidelines
