The Job:
As a DCL Siemens Project Engineer, you will be an integral part of a team of experienced engineering professionals who execute our complex municipal projects. Your functional responsibilities will insure that you continue to develop your engineering expertise through,
- Preparation of pre-design reports and project cost estimates;
- Review of design drawings for completeness and compliance to approving authorities;
- Preparation of contract documentation;
- Conducting tender closing and making tender recommendations;
- Participating in construction management by organizing and leading construction meetings and ensuring construction procedures comply with all applicable safety standards;
- Administration of contracts through construction, including all compliance to design standards, budgetary controls, and client liaison.
You will be required to liaise with clients, Provincial and Federal Ministries, and the public at large. On-site and out-of-town work is required from time to time as you will be required to meet with our many Municipal clients throughout Alberta.
The Candidate:
You have 7 to 10 years of continuous municipal engineering experience, preferably gained in a consulting engineering environment. Your career has been established in municipal infrastructure, water treatment, wastewater treatment, and associated areas. You are a personable and self-disciplined individual who will ultimately be able to lead a project team in planning, design and implementation of a variety of municipal projects; effectively communicating with and assisting fellow staff, clients, and approval agencies.

Has the capacity to interact effectively with other people both on a one-to-one basis and in group settings, including understanding and responding to the needs of others and working effectively as a member of a team to achieve a common goal.
- Problem Solving Is able to apply problem-solving strategies in purposeful ways, both in situations where the problem and the desired solution is clearly evident, and in situations requiring critical thinking and a creative approach to achieve the desired outcome.
Qualifications
Education
- A Bachelors Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, together with a P. Eng designation
- Alberta Construction Safety Training System Certification
Knowledge & Skills
- 7 – 10 years industry experience working as a Professional Engineer in municipal infrastructure, water or wastewater projects
- Competent in the use of relevant software such as Microsoft Office and discipline specific software, such as Microsoft Project, AutoCAD, GPS Systems, SewerCAD, WaterCAD and xpstorm and xpswmm software
- Thorough understanding of Alberta Environment Design Standards and Guidelines
- Thorough knowledge of relevant Municipal, Provincial and Federal Approval Authorities
- Thorough understanding of OH & S Standards
Experience in overall project management, while not required, would be considered an asset.
