For new engineering staff, a program of training will be established shortly after the probationary hiring period has ended. Over the first two years, training will entail resident field work on-site during the construction season and limited design work in the winter. This training time will be used to familiarize the trainee with survey, construction equipment, construction materials, contracting personnel and issues, and limited liaison with clients and the public. At the same time, the trainee will learn about project issues related to contractor payments and conditions, schedules, contracts and specification, construction close-out issues, and dealing with senior staff members. Winter works during training will be used to review design, drafting and costing of projects, and project processes. New staff can expect to attend training and educational courses related to their work in winter periods.

Towards the end of the training period, future possibilities will be discussed with the trainee with an intent to find a "best-fit" position in a chosen discipline (water, wastewater, transportation, infrastructure general) for design or project engineering. In these categories, the new staff member can expect to transition from junior, to intermediate, and finally to a senior position at which time an active role in the day-to-day running of projects can be expected.

DCL Siemens is employee-owned. Depending on performance and fit, after time, some staff members may be invited to participate in an equity position.

We look forward to meeting with you. If you have general questions, please feel free to call and ask for someone who can help with career questions.
